Upgrading Two Classical Inequalities

Ron Blei

Abstract

The Khintchin inequality (1930) and the Grothendieck inequality (1953) are, arguably, among the important and fundamental mathematical discoveries in the last century. In this talk I will discuss the basic connection between these two inequalities, their upgrades, and their significance.

The talk requires no more than a  first-year graduate analysis course, and will be accessible to a broad audience (I promise...!).
