TEACHING ASSISTANT
IN VIOLIN AND VIOLA
The Lionel Hampton
School of Music of the University of Idaho has two Teaching Assistant openings in
Violin and Viola, respectively,
and is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in
pursuing the Master of Music degree. The School of Music currently has
approximately 260-270 music majors; the University of Idaho student population is
nearly 13,000.
Duties may include
teaching violin or viola lessons, assisting the orchestra conductor,
and playing in the orchestra and/or chamber ensembles.
Requirements:
- Outstanding performing skills on the violin or viola
- Excellent English skills for a foreign student (a score of 575 is
needed on a TOEFL Examination)
- Completed Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Arts in Music degree at an
accredited institution with a GPA of 2.8 or higher.
The assistantship amount is expected to be in the range of
$9,500-$12,000 per year (plus out-of-state fee waiver; 2004-05 instate
tuition, fees and Graduate fees are $4,172 per year), depending on
qualifications and the type of appointment offered.
