Welcome to the University of Idaho (UI) American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter website.

About Us

The UI ASCE Student chapter membership is composed of civil engineering students from the University of Idaho. Our chapter was chartered in 1926 and was one of the earliest ASCE student chapters. Civil engineering has always been a mainstay at the UI, with two of the first four graduates receiving degrees in civil engineering. The UI Student Chapter is a member of the ASCE Pacific Northwest Region, which includes schools from Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Canada. Our members participate in many activities including the National Student Steel Bridge Competition, National Concrete Canoe Competition, surveying, technical paper competitions, and much more.

Membership

Local – To become a local member of the UI ASCE Student Chapter, civil engineering students simply must be current with their semester dues. Dues are $10 per semester. Dues are used to: 1) purchase food for the fall and spring ASCE barbeques, 2) purchase food for chapter meetings throughout the year, 3) maintain the ASCE student lounge, 4) send officers to leadership conferences, and 5) offset the cost of attending regional and national conferences.

NationalClick here to fill out an application for an ASCE National Student Membership. The promotional code for the University of Idaho is 4843. National membership is free and entitles students to many benefits, including career resources, scholarships, and discounts on things such as periodicals or car insurance. Click here for a full list of student member benefits.

Note: To participate in both regional and national conferences, students must be current local and national members.

Lockers

Lockers are available for rent in the ASCE Student Lounge (BEL 113). The lockers are rented on a semester basis; fees are $10 per semester for non-ASCE members and $5 per semester for ASCE members. Locker dimensions are 1' x 1' 1.5' and students must provide their own locks. There are 30 lockers available and they are issued on a first-come first-serve basis. Please contact the ASCE president or treasurer if you are interested in checking out a locker.
