World Biomes - Not currently offered



Course Description: A comprehensive survey and analysis of world biomes, which are continental-sized ecosystems. A systems ecology approach will be used to analyze the interrelationships and integration among the environment, flora and fauna, and the major human influences on biomes. Computer-based information technology (geographical information systems, digital media, and interactive multimedia programs) will be used to analyze the structure and function of biomes.
Prerequisites
A course in general ecology (e.g., Ecology RNGE 221 or Biology 314), general botany and zoology (e.g., Biology 213), or permission.

Recommended preparation
An advanced course in community ecology (e.g., Range 459)
