Translation is the process of protein biosynthesis in which messenger RNA is used as a template to produce a specific protein according to the rules specified by the genetic code. The key actors involved in translation are the ribosome, the messenger RNA (mRNA), several transfer RNAs (tRNA) as well as numerous other protein factors. Translation proceeds in three phases: initiation, elongation, and termination. |
