LESSON 2: CLASS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF MACROMOLECULES IN CELLS

Build a Polypeptide

Explanation: Polypeptides are polymers that form when amino acids are linked together by peptide linkages. In the box above is a generic amino acid (it’s generic because we haven’t specified what the R group is). You need to select the correct macromolecule(s), drag, possibly rotate, and drop each one in the correct place to produce a simple polypeptide containing 4 amino acids. When you get the correct molecule in the correct spot to form a peptide linkage, a water molecule, indicating the condensation reaction, will be released.

Build a Polypeptide

Drag, Rotate, and Drop the correct molecules into the shaded box to produce a simple polypeptide containing 4 amino acids.

Rotating molecules:
Use Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Macintosh) on an object to rotate it clockwise.

When SUCCESS! appears on the screen, you have successfully completed this task.
