Control System Effectiveness

Identify an example of a bureaucratic or clan control system (p. 356-357) at an organization where you have worked (in a paid position or a volunteer position). Notice that the control system that a company uses (whether it is bureaucratic or clan) could be feedforward, concurrent, or feedback type of control (p. 362-363).

Using the the contingency factors that help determine when certain types of control are appropriate (Exhibit 13-6), answer the following question: Was the control system appropriate for the situation you were in? Why or Why not?

You do not need to submit anything written for these Individual Activities.  These activities are designed for you to obtain information and insight on your own personal characteristics and to provide an opportunity for you to think about how material from your readings applies in different situations.  NOTE: You may be asked to apply or discuss the information from these Individual Activities in quizzes or exams.
