Begin by
reading the following short article about the Olympic Games in Torino
(also called Turin):
MOUNTING TROUBLES IN TURIN, U.S. News & World
Report; 2/13/2006, Vol. 140 Issue 5, p30-31, 2p, 1c.
The article is easy
to access via the Ebsco search database on the
library website.
As
you read the article think about the last step in the Decision-Making
Process (Exhibit 4-2 in the textbook). Given what is discussed in the
article about how to determine the success of the games (see the part of
the article that compares the issues facing the Torino games to those
faced by previous Olympic Games in Greece and Barcelona), notice that
the "evaluation" step in decision making is often the hardest - because
to determine if a decision was effective or not depends upon how you
measure effectiveness/success.
