Overview

Management as a practice has evolved and changed over the last century. Early scholars of management thought, such as Fredrick Taylor and Henri Fayol, helped focus attention to the importance of basic managerial functions, such as planning and organizing in the early part of the last century. Since that time, our understanding of management – while building on these early foundations – has grown and evolved to more fully mirror the complex environment in which organizations exist today.
