This module is an opportunity to review Modules 5.1 through 9.1 in preparation for the exam.

Review Sheet

 

Format:  A mix of Multiple Choice and Short-Answer Essay. The format will look very much like the first exam format.


Materials Covered:

  • Chapters 5, 6, 8 and 10.

  • The two assigned Business Week articles on Outsourcing (see Module 5.1).

  • PowerPoint/Lectures for Modules 6.1 through 9.1.

  • Individual Activities for Modules 6.1 through 9.1:

    • Module 6.1: The SAS Institute and organizational design and culture

    • Module 6.2: Starbucks and job descriptions/specifications

    • Module 7.1: Starbucks, RJPs and performance appraisal methods

    • Module 7.2: EEOC compliance statistics

    • Module 8.1: Reinforcement Theory in action

    • Module 8.2: Motivation Theory Scavenger Hunt

    • Module 9.1: Wall Street Journal (customer service) article

 

When reviewing the assigned TEXTBOOK material the following areas will NOT be addressed in the exam:

Chapter 5

  • Team-based structures

  • Boundaryless organization

Chapter 6

  • The legal environment of HRM (with the exception of the EEOC activity)

  • Workplace spirituality

  • The Career Module

Chapter 8

  • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

  • Machiavellianism

  • Holland's six basic employee personality types
