This interdisciplinary program enables students to gain an understanding of U.S. history, society, and cultures, past and present. It centers on courses that promote a multiethnic perspective on the U.S.; students may also examine U.S. experience within the broader context of Canadian and Latin American experience and from an international perspective. With its choice of emphases in history, social science, or American literature, the American Studies program gives students the flexibility to explore a variety of academic fields to widen their knowledge and prepare them for professional life or graduate study.
