Aggregates (Chapter 5)

bullet Sources, Uses, Properties and benefaction by blending.
bullet Weight-Volume Relationships and Specific Gravity calculations.

Lab#2:      Lab tour, policy, and sieve analysis and dry rodded unit weight

Lab#3:      Specific gravity and absorption tests for coarse and fine aggregates.

Lab report preparation.

Portland Cement Concrete Mixes (Chapters 6, 7)

bullet Absolute Volume Concept and Analysis.
bullet Proportioning of PCC mixes
bullet Properties of fresh and hardened concrete
bullet Testing (compressive, tensile and flexural)
bullet Advanced topics (fiber reinforced concrete, polymer modified PCC mixes)

Lab#4:       PCC mix design and preparation of materials for PCC mixes

Lab#5:       Mixing and preparation of PCC test specimens.

Lab#6:       Compressive strength and Split Tensile tests

Lab#7:       Flexural strength tests.

Lab#8:       Possible Field Trip and Lab report preparation.
