Pilot Studies

Four pilot studies have been conducted with the RSBH Value Judgment Inventory. Because the HBVCI has established a strong reliability and validity, the first three pilot studies were exclusively concerned with the new social character questions. From these three pilot studies, 177 subjects were tested, 91 males, 79 females and 124 non athletes and 48 Division IA college athletes. A fourth pilot study was conducted with both the social index and moral index to test for a clear demarcation between the social index and the moral index. That is, to validate the presence of two separate constructs and indices; social character and moral character. A total of 215 new subjects, 106 males, 109 females and 50 Division IA college athletes, 66 ROTC Military Cadets, and 99 non athletes were tested with the complete RSBH Value Judgment Inventory. Currently, a fifth pilot study is being conducted, in which 67 college athletes (Division II and NAIA) and 22 non athletes have been added to the fourth pilot study's sample size. Concurrently more athletes and non athletes are being procured.
