Doing On-line Library Research – Searching the Library Resources

 

Indexes that will help you find articles in professional journals:

 

CABDirect: Leisure, Recreation and Tourism Abstracts (Paper version: Index GV1.R8)

Begin on UI Library homepage: http://www.lib.uidaho.edu

Click on “Find Articles”

Under "Databases by Subject" select subject such as "Natural Resources" or "Social Sciences" and click on "Go there"

Click on “CAB Direct”

Under "Select Database:" you can Narrow the Search by Subject Subset" by clicking on "Leisure, Recreation and Tourism"

Click on the big blue “Search” button

You may also want to Click on “advance” search (in top margin)

Here you can enter specific search terms and change dates to those you prefer

 

 

Physical Education Index (Index GV201.P5) paper; first floor of library

Search by broad keyword or subject terms such as “tennis,” “camping” or “skiing.” Covers years from 1978 to current.

Expanded Academic Index

Both are listed under “Most Popular Databases” after clicking on “Find Articles” on library homepage. In Expanded Academic Index, switch from “Subject” to “Keyword” for more flexible searching.

 

To find out which journals are available to the University of Idaho community (both in paper and electronically through various databases and vendors), click on “Journal List” on Library’s homepage.

 

To find out which journals are available at WSU, click on “Other Libraries” on the UI Library homepage. WSU is the first listed in the left column.

 

If you need help getting articles from journals unavailable in the UI Library, visit the Interlibrary Loan office on the first floor. They are open Monday - Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is also an electronic form you can use on the library’s homepage. Just click on “Interlibrary Loan” under “Library Services.”
