Abstract

Classification systems provide useful tools for land managers and researchers. The habitat type concept is a land classification system that relates plant climax communities with their environments. This classification system provides a useful tool for subdividing the landscape and provides an information storage and retrieval system. We have authored an interactive CD-ROM-based electronic book on shrub steppe ecosystem of Idaho. This interactive electronic book, which was authored with Toolbook Instructor, facilitates a comprehensive understanding of habitat types and the interactions that occur within these communities.
