Basic Intrinsic Reader Benefit Types:

Long Term Gain Over Short Term Pleasure

Health: physical and mental: Relief from stress, anger, guilt, hassles

Self-respect and Pride: "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."

Community and National Respect and Pride (self sacrifice for greater good: nationalism, corporate culture, school pride, fraternities/sororities)

Love:  Responsibility to others and one's environment.

Justice, Morality, Ethics, Constitutional, Secular or Religious Values.

Examples:

Teaching: "The children are our future."
