Pioneering scientists inevitably encounter philosophical issues. For example, debates regarding the units of selection in evolutionary theory depend on how we define different levels of biological organization. This workshop is intended to facilitate discussion about issues at the boundaries of disciplines by bringing together researchers from inside scientific disciplines - scientists - and theoreticians from outside those disciplines - philosophers. In particular, the goal of the workshop is to draw from the rich regional pool of interdisciplinary scientists with a wider audience of philosophers of science.
