Short Papers (30 pts.)                      Return Home

January 30: Choose your own topic for the philosopher Kierkegaard.  Write a concise three-page essay on this topic.  Suggested topics are SK's existentialist dialectic, impact of his relationship to Regina on this writings, an analysis of Attack on Christendom, a critique of truth as subjectivity, his own Christian viewpoint, his relationship to premodernism, modernism, and postmodernism, etc.  You must cite at least two sources other than your Solomon anthology.  You can find my own personal books in the philosophy department seminar room (immediate right on the bottom) or choose from this list from the UI library.  A style sheet must be attached to all written work in this class.  Don't forget to look at the web reading and the good selections in Gill & Sherman (on reserve).

Long Paper (100 pts.)

Choose a topic carefully and discuss it with the instructor.  You must present a 7-page draft of the paper with complete bibliography by April 15.  Half the points will be given at this time with the other half credited when the final draft is finished on May 6.  The final draft should be 12-15 pages with bibliography.
