Course costs include a $25 registration fee (this is the clerical fee the university charges for any course that will be officially recorded on a transcript), plus $15 per class night (for example, a two night course like costs $25 + $15 + $15 = $55.

Nonprofit Leadership, Making a Difference: This is an interactive, reality based 8 week course covering entrepreneurial Leadership; high-impact Board Development; successful Community-Based and Foundation Fund Development (real funders will interact with students); innovative Marketing and Special Events; essential Legal and Ethical Issues, and creating a successful Volunteer Program. 8 classes; Tuesdays, September 17, 24, October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and Wednesday, November 6, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Limited and partial scholarships of $65.00 may be available. Social Media, as High Impact Marketing and Communication: This high-energy, interactive class will focus on a variety of free tools and tactics available today. Discover the value and purpose of your organization through strategically designing and maximizing a communication strategy that will allow you to tell your story in a most compelling way to achieve organizational goals. 2 classes; Monday, September 30 and Wednesday, October 2; 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Community and Foundation Fundraising: This interactive class offers a reality based approach to maximizing income while increasing organizational sustainability. Study essential premises for success; how to identify, cultivate, structure, and enjoy making the “ask”; questions most commonly asked by the prospective funder; how to prepare for raising money, and proven strategies and techniques to maximize income. Interact with actual funders. 3 classes; Tuesdays; October 8, 15, and 22; 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Cost $70.00. Note: This class will be limited to just a few students. Conflict Management:  Conflict is natural and conflict in the nonprofit workplace is a common occurrence. Within an engaging and interactive environment participants will learn how to recognize different kinds of conflict, and experiment with different ways of resolving differences. We will study Principled Negotiations and Positional Bargaining and about power and methods to soften and balance power when necessary. 2 classes, Thursdays, October 10 and 17, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The Essential Basics of Effective Proposal Writing:  The Idaho Community Foundation is pleased to co-sponsor this free class with the University of Idaho.  Proposal writing is a core, required skill for all who are, or wish to be, at the administrative level of a nonprofit organization. Beyond reviewing the structure and mechanics of the proposal, we will focus on how to effectively capture the mission within the document. We will also learn how to strategically plan for an award winning proposal, including where and how to research, cultivate and approach the prospective donor. 1 session: October 24, 6:00 to 8:30 PM.  Cost $25.00 (i.e., the registration fee only).  Instructor is Colleen Allison, retired public administrator and current consulting grant writer.  Location:  Molstead Library on the NIC campus, Room 256.  In case we get a large crowd, we have also reserved the Todd Auditorium, also in Molstead, at the bottom of the front stairs; there will be signs in Molstead to direct you.

High Impact Board Development:  The course will focus on board member selection, training, duties and obligations; we will also consider board member relationships with directors, staff members, and external constituents.  3 sessions: September 12, 19, and 25, 6:00 to 8:30 PM.  Cost $70.00.  Instructors are Bob Over of our program and Jeff Conroy, executive Director, St. Vincent DePaul, Coeur d’Alene.
