Student Paper Competition

The organizers of the Northwest Anthropological Conference encourage the presentation of papers by students and each year sponsor a student paper competition.

This year, one award will be presented to the best graduate student paper and another to the best undergraduate student paper.  In the event that no paper is selected in one of the two categories, then first and second place papers will be chosen from the other category.  The award winners will be announced at the banquet.   Each winner will receive a $50.00 cash prize, and the paper judged to be the best will be published in the Journal of Northwest Anthropology.

The student paper must be of publishable quality and must be based on original research. Use either American Antiquity or American Anthropologist style.  Material from the paper must be presented at the conference by the author. In order to be eligible for the student paper competition, abstracts must be submitted by March 7, and the complete paper must be received by April 1 2011.

Submit papers as an email attachment in Word for Windows to Laura Putsche nwac@uidaho.edu, with "NWAC student paper" in the subject line.  Make sure to include your name, phone number, email address, and mailing address on the paper.  Also please specify your student status (graduate or undergraduate) on your submission.
