Densho Project:
Densho is a Japanese term meaning "to pass on to the next generation,"
or to leave a legacy. The legacy we offer is an American story with ongoing
relevance: during World War II, the United States government incarcerated
innocent people solely because of their ancestry. After registering, you
can access the digital archive collection, which currently holds more than 110
interviews, or visual histories (over 200 hours of recorded video), and 1,000
historic photos and documents. This content will grow as Densho continues to
record life histories and collect historic images.

Smith Tower, at Second Avenue and Yesler Way, underwent a $28 million
renovation that was completed in January 2000. Since then, public entry to
the building has been restricted to the self-guided tours of the Chinese
Room, the observation deck and the entrance lobby.
