What else do you need to know as you prepare for the conference?

  1. The conference will be held at the Idaho Commons on the University of Idaho campus.  The registration desk will open at 8:00 am at the Whitewater-Clearwater Room (first floor of the Idaho Commons).  Please arrive by 8:45 am so that you can receive your nametag and take your seat.  We will begin the conference promptly at 9:00 am
  2. In the interest of minimizing use of paper, we will not provide any written materials or programs to you.  Please bring your own writing materials for notetaking.  In this same spirit, if you drink coffee, please bring your own cup.
  3. If you are driving to the university campus and do not have a standard parking permit, free parking will be available near the Kibbie Dome at the west side of the university campus.  A shuttle (the Vandal Trolley) will run from this parking area to the Idaho Commons beginning at 8:00 am on the mornings of September 22 and 23.  Please see this link for a map showing the location of the free parking area.
  4. Lunch will be provided both days from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm in a reserved area just to the east of the Commons.
  5. The workshops are an integral part of the conference.  Five parallel workshop tracks will run from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm on September 22 and 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on September 23.  Each workshop will address one issue relating to sustainable transportation and will produce a report based on these two half days of work.  You have registered for one of these workshops and are encouraged to attend for the entire time.  The workshops are designed for complete participation of each registrant not for just “dropping in”.  We really do want to produce meaningful results!  I would be glad to clarify this or discuss this further with you.
  6. The closing session, September 23 from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm will bring together all conference participants to develop a comprehensive set of recommendations for the university and for the local community for future actions on sustainable transportation.
  7. Dress is “business casual”.
  8. If your plans have changed and you are not able to attend the conference, please let me know as soon as possible as we do have a waiting list of people interested in attending.
  9. The City of Moscow is sponsoring a kickoff event for NewCity Moscow (facilitated by the New Cities Foundation) beginning at 6:00 pm on September 22.  We encourage your participation in this event, if you are interested.  See this link for more information:  http://www.moscow.id.us/council/NewCities/Index.asp.  We will be running the Vandal Trolley from the Idaho Commons and the University Inn to Friendship Square in downtown Moscow to transport those from the conference who are interested in attending the New Cities event.  Dinner will be available at this event.
