Swing! Dancers, Drummers, Dreamers XIII
Earns Award of Distinction from
Communicator Awards Video Competition

Swing! Dancers, Drummers, Dreamers XIII received the Award of Distinction in the �Cable TV/Low Budget under $1,500� category in the Communicator Awards 2004 Video Competition.   

The one-hour and 46-minute program was produced with Greg Halloran, Assistant Professor of Dance at the UI Center for Dance by Jake Cutshall, production specialist at the ITS Video Production CenterVPC Student videographer Kyle Thoreson assisted with the field production.

The program was based on the March 2004 live performance produced by UI faculty members Greg Halloran, Dan Bukvich, Spencer Martin, and Diane Walker. The collaboration of original choreography and music featured 75 UI students from classes in UI Dance Theatre and the Lionel Hampton School of Music

Swing! also featured two original choreographies by artist-in-residence Frankie Manning, legendary master of the Lindy Hop and other Swing-era dance steps.

Swing! Dancers, Drummers, Dreamers XIII  was first telecast last April on UITV-8, the UI�s cable TV channel on the Adelphia Cable system.  Students also use the video as part of their resume portfolio.  The program is scheduled to replay again in March 2004 on UITV-8.
