About the
College of Natural Resources
Wildland Fire Program
For more than 35 years, the
College of Natural Resources at the
University of Idaho has been a leader in wildland fire education,
research and outreach. We encourage an interdisciplinary approach to
addressing real-world relevant to the state, region, nation and world. We offer
more courses focused on fire than any other natural resources school
in the country. Students can complete an undergraduate or
graduate-level certificate in fire ecology and management, a minor in fire ecology
and management or the
only Bachelors' of Science Degree focused on wildland fire in
the U.S.
Our courses and degree programs are developed to provide students with
real-world skills and fundamental principles to become leaders in fire and
natural resource management. Our fire research program builds upon our
educational program by attracting top graduate students and promoting
collaboration with the leading fire scientists. We challenge our graduate
students with innovative research projects that provide useful, timely and
sound science relevant to fire management issues across the state, region and
nation.
