WLF 448: Fish & Wildlife Population Ecology 2011

Lab 13 Help/Hints

1)    This is a fairly time-consuming lab.  Plan to spend more time on it than you typically do with other lab assignments.

2)    Use PIMs from the models described in the lab notes to help you build PIMs for use in program MARK.

3)    Question 2:  The model to use when both survival and recovery rates vary over time and between groups is [s(g t) r(g t)].

4)    Question 3:  Use the [(s(g .) r(g .)] model.

5)    There are other MARK resources available online.  They are not required reading, but if you need to apply MARK for later projects, they would be good sources to consult.

        a)    MARK website (http://warnercnr.colostate.edu/~gwhite/mark/mark.htm

        b)    MARK user's guide--"Program MARK: A Gentle Introduction" (http://www.phidot.org/software/mark/docs/book/)

        c)    MARK "electronic book" (http://warnercnr.colostate.edu/class_info/fw663/Mark.html)

        d)    MARK online discussion forum (http://www.phidot.org/forum/index.php)
