Meeting Minutes: October 10, 2007

Introductions

  • Favorite game

WSU

  • Pride Week at WSU - several events throughout the week
    1. Monday - History
    2. Tuesday - Safer Sex Olympics
      1. They had 3 events: Condom Races, Lube Thumb Wrestling, Dental Dam Tongue Word Find
      2. GLBTA meeting: Gay Jeopardy (UI vs WSU), The Gay Game
    3. Today - Made tshirts in GIESORC
    4. Thursday - They are having their coming out door and getting people “leid” as they pass through the door with Hawaiian leis
    5. Friday - Having lunch with administrators
  • They are also helping out next week with “Week without Violence”
  • They are getting ready for several other national days concerning our community in the next few months

Women's Center

  • Ally Fest and National Coming Out Day
    1. They have 10 coming out stories
    2. 15 other student organizations
    3. Set up starts at 10 and the event goes from 11 to 2pm
    4. Rain location is in the SUB in the lobby on the first floor by the Information Desk
    5. Food will be served at noon and there will be Music
    6. Will read some of the stories around lunch time

NCOD Social

  • We will have a social event in the SUB from 6 to 8pm in the Appolusa Lounge.
  • People are requested to table as long and as much as they can during the Ally fest

World AIDS Day

  • Take to Courtney and Dan if you want to help out with the Blood Drive and Petition

TabiKat Drag Show

  • Why is it not at The Beach?
    1. Owner doesn’t want to be associated with gay community and money
    2. 90% of the staff quit because of this
  • Relocated to the Moose Lodge in Pullman
  • Open Bar :) for those of us over 21
  • Moose Lodge is already working with us better than The Beach did after four years of having the Drag Show there
  • More Parking :)
  • It also is safer for us since in Washington it is a hate crime
  • No Drunk Driving! It isn’t safe in the first place and the police department is right across the street

LGBTQ History Month

  • There is a speaker about the community history in the Northwest
  • It is next Wednesday
  • More information will be coming in another e-mail

Campus Police will be coming to one of the next meetings to talk to us about how to be safe and campus safety issues.

Halloween Meeting on Wednesday the 31st

  • MURDER MYSTERY PARTY!
  • We need at least 12 people to play
  • Las Vegas Cocktail Party Theme
  • Invitations with your character are going to be sent out if you’re interested in playing
  • Dress up :)
  • Do we want to do this game or not?
    1. We will vote on it next week to see if there is enough interest so come to next meeting and voice your opinion!

Pamper Chef

  • One of the former GSA co-chairs recently became a consultant and is going to be hosting a party at the prospective community center space
  • 1950s themed party, and money will go to community
  • More information to come :)

NDA

  • Human Rights Campaign is pushing for people to call there senators to supported for the National Non-Discrimination Employment Act, #2025 which is all inclusive NOT the one that excludes transgender rights

Senator Kennedy from Mass. was told about the recent gay bashings in Idaho.
