Meeting Minutes: September 6, 2006

Homecoming:

Occurs Oct. 4th-8th with the parade on October 7t

Do we want to do a float with SODA
Also we could do a float with UNITY (the group that encompasses most multicultural clubs and organizations)~UNITY has been thinking of doing a diversity train through out the parade that we could be involved in.

Ideas
Rainbows…lots and lots of rainbows ~ rainbow body paint
Rainbow Helmets
Be more Alley friendly….maybe not rainbow all the helmets
Maybe use the meanings of the colors
Hot Pink=Sexuality ; Red=Life ; Orange=Healing ; Yellow=Sunlight ; Green=Nature ; Turquoise=Magic ; Blue=Serenity ; Violet=Spirit
Hand out HJR2 stuff?
BHand out candy and condoms!!!!

Parade

No Float, have people walk in a triangle

Viking Helmets ? ~ Chris said he should be able to get some for $

Coming Out Day (October 11th) ~ what to do

Focus on HJR2 ? – Maybe a discussion panel or debate about gay marriage in Idaho. For or Against – contact SODA if we are going to do a panel. A public debate might get nasty, maybe instead do an open Q and A about the GLBT side of the issue

Activities all week or just on Wednesday

Do table tents in the commons

Maybe do a movie series during October

L Word night ¿no?

Found door and frame

Do tabling before coming out day and on it. Involve other groups like FLAME, Women’s Center, Safe Zone, etc

Make sure we have coming out info. Counseling info, or personal coming out stories

Committees:

Set up committees for national coming out day, sent around a sign up sheet…if you are interested email one of the co-chairs

Clothesline Project

Violence Provention Project is taking different t-shirts, different colors mean different things, and then put messages on them.

Do we want to participate….16 voted yes, so we are….we will have shirts and write on them during a meeting “it will be fabulous”

November Ideas

Poetry Slam…more info later

IACURH – GLBT social, do we want to plan it and put it on. Voted yes

WSU

Who wants to go to their meetings, they are on Tuesdays at 7pm ~we have next week covered but we will need someone permanent

October Drag show, WSU only? WSU representative is trying to change that. Thank you WSU Reps!!!!

We need a UNITY Rep. Max said he can do it this next meeting but we also need a permanent Rep for that as well
