Joint Mathematics Colloquium

Abstract

The Khintchin inequality (1930) and the
Grothendieck inequality (1953) are, arguably, among the important and
fundamental mathematical discoveries in the last century. In this talk
I will discuss the basic connection between these two inequalities,
their upgrades, and their significance. The talk requires no more than a firstyear graduate analysis course, and will be accessible to a broad audience (I promise...!).
