Geomicrobiology

Welcome to the Geomicrobiology Research Group at the University of Idaho! We are a new and exciting addition to the Department of Geological Sciences, with projects focusing on the interactions of microbes with various elements in a range of geological environments. Whether you're interested in sampling microbial diversity in active fumaroles in the Galápagos, determining microbial arsenic oxidation in Idaho and Oregon hot springs, investigating selenium mobility in mine tailings, or studying microbial interactions with iron and manganese, our research group offers dynamic opportunities to explore the emerging interdisciplinary field of geomicrobiology. Learn more about our activities by selecting links at the top and left side of this page.

Undergraduate and graduate students interested in working on a research project are encouraged to contact Dr. Susan Childers at childers@uidaho.edu.
