Monument FE17 is located approximately 9km north of FE16 and is set in the first vegetated area on the coast north of Punta mangle (Mangrove Bay).  The site, situated on a patch of pahoehoe with multiple flow islets, is surrounded by vegetation, and is located 5m from the water on a 3m high bluff.  The pahoehoe supports sparse grasses and small clusters of tubular cacti.  (on Rowland's map: intermediate in age; ~200m north of a'a flow #16)
The UTM coordinates are accurate: the site lies just north of the 9960000E (equal to latitude lines) of 680000 meridian.
