General Location and Strategy: SN05 is near the Azufre camp on the west caldera rim, where the trail drops to the caldera floor. It is placed so as to measure any movement on this flank of the volcano, due to broadscale doming or dike intrusion.

Monument SN05 is located on a (weathered but solid) scoria mound near the trail to the bottom of the caldera in an area of minimal vegetation.
