General Location and Strategy: SN 9 is located as close to the center of the caldera floor as we could get without dying.

Field Notes:

Days measured: 07 Jan 00 - 08 Jan 00

(Center of caldera)

Monument SN09 is located on top of the N edge of the 10m thick a'a flow in the center of the caldera.  The monument itself is a brass cap cemented into an outcrop of the massive interior of the a'a flow where it folded as it flowed down the flow front (cemented into a 20m high lava tube).  The site is ~10m SE of large cairn erected at the edge of the ridge.

Antenna height:  0.555m + 0.108 m = 0.663 cm

2000 Results

Data from 2 GPS days were combined (1/7/00-1/8/00). Solution was made by fixing Base (SN01).

The first reported uncertainty uses the sigma of the coordinate group as a scaling factor and may be too pessimistic. The second uses the sigma of the single difference observations as a scaling factor and is obviously a gross underestimate.
