Professor Gary Dean Austin

 

TEACHING  
 

Professor Austin has taught a broad range of courses during his career including, Sophomore, Junior, Senior and graduate studios including topics of mixed-use, high-density development, rural community revitalization, reindustrialization of sites for biofuel industries and study abroad studios in Italy. Manual and computer graphics techniques. Technical courses in grading and drainage, layout and construction detailing, water conservation technologies, stormwater management and irrigation design. Courses on the theory and history of landscape architecture, introduction to landscape architecture, introduction to the built environment and principles of site design. Courses on GIS and scenario based planning. Courses on plant identification, planting design and landscape ecology.
