We have two main laboratories. Our organic chemistry lab (~1450 sq. ft., Renfrew Hall 326) is outfitted with four fume hoods and fully equipped for modern synthetic organic chemistry.

Our biotechnology lab (~650 sq. ft. Renfrew Hall 314) is outfitted with three hoods and instrumentation needed for the synthesis, purification, and characterization of functionalized oligonucleotides and nanomaterials including:

• DNA synthesizers
• several HPLC systems
• temperature-controlled UV/VIS spectrometers and fluorimeters
• fluorescence and luminescence plate readers
• thermal cyclers
• gel electrophoresis instrumentation

In addition, we have access to 300 and 500 MHz NMR spectrometers (1H, 13C, 15N, 19F, 31P, DEPT, COSY, HSQC, HMBC), high resolution ESI/MALDI-MS, dynamic light-scattering (DLS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and confocal Raman microscopes, and other specialized instrumentation through internal collaborators and instrument centers.
