Stop 1, Overview stop, north of Moscow, Idaho

At the Stop 1 I give a lecture on local geology and the trip route.

On the left part of the whiteboard is a general cross-section of the local geology around Moscow. On the right portion is a rough sketch showing the 150 mile loop drive for the day.

A view to the south wtih Paradise Ridge in the distance. Paradise Ridge is composed of metamorphic belt rock. The valley, with Moscow to the far right, is composed of the rolling Palouse loess covering thick basalt flows.

The house and the old dump. You had to be there to hear all the good stories!!!
