Stop 3, Contact between granite & Belt rocks, between Harvard & Deary, Idaho



The pinkish rock on the right side of the photo is an intrusion of granite into the layered metamorphic rock to the left. The granite is part of the Idaho batholith (approximately 65 million years old), while the metamorphic rock is part of the Belt supergroup and is approximately 1 billions old.
