Accessory plates and their uses
The following are some examples of the use of accessory plates to determine the orientation of N and n in a crystal.
Addition with a quartz plate (same as full wave plate or gypsum plate or 550 nm plate).
Subtration with a quartz plate (same as full wave plate or gypsum plate or 550 nm plate).
Addition with a quartz wedge.
Subtraction with a quartz wedge.
