Computer programs

This page is under construction, with computer programs for calculations in optical mineralogy and crystallography. Both Mac and Dos versions are included. The Mac versions are in "hqx" format and you will need stuffit expander to "decompress" them . The Dos files are zipped and need to be unzipped when downloaded. • Excalibr (Mac) | (Dos) A program to calculate the microscope and spindle stage settings for measuring the principal refractive indices of biaxial minerals (Gunter et al., (1988) American Mineralogist, 73, 1481-1482).

• Drill (Mac) | (Dos) A program to aid in the construction of ball & spoke mineral models (Gunter & Downs (1991) American Mineralogist, 76, 293-294).

• Opt_cal (Mac) | (Dos) A program to calculate miscellaneous optical properties of minerals (Gunter & Schares (1991) Journal of Geological Education, 39, 289-290).
