Thank you for participating in the UI travel study.

The following must be completed before October 9, 2013 to be eligible for the $50 gift card raffle.

Step 1.  If you have not done so already, fill out the Consent Form.

(This is the registration form that probably directed you here. In which case, move on to the next step.)

Step 2.  Allow third party apps on your device.

a.  From your device’s menu screen select Settings,

b.  Select Applications,

c.  Check the box to allow unknown sources.

d.  A default warning will appear, select OK.

Our app is for research purposes only and not available on Google Play (Android Market), therefore it can only be installed as an “unknown source.”

Step 3.  Download the UI Travel App: Click here to download.

(if the above hyperlink is broken, you can find the app at  http://www.webpages.uidaho.edu/~mlowry/travelstudy/EcoRouting-release.apk )

Step 4.  Install the app.

a.  From your devices menu screen select Applications,

b.  Select Downloads,

c.  Select the UI-Travel-Study-release.apk app to install it.

d.  A default warning will appear, select OK.

Our app ONLY collects GPS and Bluetooth information. The default warning advises against similar apps that collect data about email, phone calls, text messages, etc.  Our app does NOT collect other data. For more information: http://www.funf.org/about.html

Step 5.  Open and Start the app. Once the app has been started it will continue to run in the background.

Step 6.  Go about your regular daily routine. You may experience decreased battery life. We recommend carrying your charger with you and recharging your device frequently until the completion of this study.

Step 7.  On October 11, 2013 you will receive an email notifying you to uninstall the app.

For help installing the app, you can visit the University of Idaho Engineering Physics Building Room EP 115 Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Thank you!
