You are presently viewing the introduction of Idaho’s newest education program Exploring Career Pathways! Twenty-eight hands-on career related activities have been designed by teams of business and middle school professionals such that when completed, your eighth grader will be able to intelligently complete the Parent Approved Student Learning Plan for high school. Please encourage your student to complete as many as possible of the twenty-eight activities that are distributed across the six Career Pathways of:
Exploring the web sites linked to each of the above Pathways will also enable you and your student to carefully evaluate the many different career opportunities currently available. Once this above explorative process has been completed, your student should call up the Sample Parent Approved Plan and check all of those Career Major activities that they (1) enjoy doing, (2) believe they did well, and (3) felt proud about doing. Highlight the Pathway and view the list of sample high school courses that relate to that pathway. Get a copy of your local high school's academic course catalog and find the courses that are similar to the lists on this web site program. Proceed to fill out the courses your student would like to enroll in on the web site sample form and then print out a hard copy. Share this copy with your school counselor to see how this would actually work out for you. Regard this Sample Plan as a changeable document that can and will be changed over the next four years of your student's high school experience. Be sure to examine the many extra curriculum activities available at your school and include them at the bottom of the sample plan. |
