Kathmandu lies on the western side of the Valley. As in other two cities of the Kathmandu Valley, this kingdom also had well-developed palaces and temples in the ancient times. Recent urbanization in Kathmandu obscures the historic architecture, however, intense vestiges of the old kingdom still remain at the center of the city including dozens of temples distributed throughout the city.

Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu Palace complex is a set of palaces and temples arranged around a large spacious brick paved city square. There is a huge palace, more than a dozen temples of various sizes and few public rest houses. Few of the original structure like few courtyards, temples and towers remain today.
