Nyatapola
This temple was built by the King Bhupatindra Malla in early seventeenth century. It is located at Tamaudi square which lies on the eastern side of the main square.

This is one of the only two five-storied pagoda temple found in the Valley. The temple stands on a five-stepped plinth, which is approached by a stone paved stair way. On each plinth level of the stairway is a pair of large stone statues on either side of the stairs.

On the south-east side of the Nyatapola is the Bhairav Temple. This temple was first built by the King Jagatjyoti Malla  as a single storied rectangular temple. Later King Bhupantindra Malla (early seventeenth century) restored this temple to a three storied temple with seven metal pinnacles on the top. Unlike other temples around the city, this temple stands directly on the ground without any plinth level. The three tiered roofs are supported by wooden struts. The spaces between the struts are packed with the wooden and copper lattice work on each  floor.
