BbLearn's Responsive Design Theme

The latest version of BbLearn implements a responsive design interface that displays differently depending on the size of your device or Web browser window. On smaller screens, modules and menu items stack for ease of use. These changes make BbLearn more accessible on a wider range of screens, and provide a better, more accessible experience for those using mobile devices.

Left-Side Course Menu

The BbLearn Course Menu shown on the left side auto-hides whenever you view BbLearn on a smaller screen or when you shrink your browser window size. If you make the browser window larger again, the Course Menu does not reappear on its own.

Follow the steps below to show the BbLearn Course Menu when it is auto-hidden:

  • Look for a narrow-colored bar on the left-hand side where the BbLearn Course Menu normally appears.
  • (optional) Hover over the narrow-colored bar until a right arrow icon appears.
  • Click on the narrow-colored bar or its right arrow icon to expand your Course Menu.
  • The Course Menu will expand as shown below.
  • Note: As long as your browser window remains narrow, your Course Menu will continue to auto-hide.

Stacked Course Menu

If you view BbLearn on a small enough screen (e.g. mobile device) or if you really shrink your browser window size, modules and menu items stack for ease of use. These changes make BbLearn more accessible on a wider range of screens, and provide a better, more accessible experience for those using mobile devices.

Follow the steps below to use the Stacked Course Menu in BbLearn:

  • Click on the Show Course Menu icon in the upper left corner of the window.
  • When you are finished using the Course Menu, click on the Hide Course Menu icon in the upper left corner of the window.

Expand Grade Center Area

The responsive design interface adds additional padding throughout, giving BbLearn an improved modern look and feel. This may cause you to wish for a larger area to work in when viewing the Grade Center. To increase the Grade Center area:

  • Click the "expand" icon located in the upper right corner of the Grade Center to increase the working area.
  • The expand icon is an on/off toggle, so click the "expand" icon again to return to the default Grade Center view.

Student Preview & Edit Mode

If you view BbLearn in a small screen or window (e.g. mobile device), modules and menu items stack for ease of use. The steps below show you how to access the Student Preview and Edit Mode options when BbLearn is shown in stacked view.

  • Click the "gear" icon located in the upper right corner of the window to show a menu allowing you to Enter Student Preview and to toggle your Edit Mode ON/OFF.
  • The "gear" icon is an on/off toggle, so click it again to hide this menu.

My Courses View

If you view BbLearn in a small screen or window (e.g. mobile device), modules and menu items stack for ease of use. The steps below show you how to access the My Courses view when BbLearn is shown in stacked view.

  • Click the "hamburger" icon located in the upper left corner of the window.
  • Select My Courses.
  • To exit out of this menu, click X in the upper left corner.
