Information Technology Services (ITS)

ITS provides the university community with information technologies and support to complement its teaching, learning, research, telecommunications, and outreach activities, as well as serve administrative operations. The ITS main office is located in the UI Administration Building, Room 140, phone 208/885-6721. Some services provided by ITS include:

  • Help Desk services – including technical assistance through telephone, e-mail, and walk-in support. The Help Desk can be visited at The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) room 128 or reached at 208/885- HELP (208/885-4357) or helpdesk@uidaho.edu.
  • Student Computer Labs – located throughout the Moscow campus with a mix of 500 PC and Macintosh computers, also computer access for individuals with disabilities. Some labs are open 23 hours a day. Also located throughout campus are 100 walk-up kiosks.
  • Wireless Laptop Checkout – available in the Idaho Commons, Library, Living and Learning Center (LLC), and SUB.
  • Campus Wireless Network – is available in the core of campus. The wireless network utilizes the 802.11b/g and some 802.11a network standards.
  • Center for Teaching Innovation – providing both high-end tools and high-level instruction to faculty and staff interested in using technology
  • Technology Enhanced Classrooms – support and training for the university's media-enhanced classrooms.
  • Media Center – providing media presentation equipment to campus and off-campus users.
  • Telephone Services – providing complete telephony service and infrastructure support.
  • Management Information Systems – aids in the analysis, maintenance, and installation of purchased software for administrative clients.
  • Network and Systems – provides network and server-based services including: e-mail; Internet access; high-speed campus data network; wide-area network connecting university sites across Idaho; server-based personal and shared file space; print queues; wiring and fiber optics for data and voice networks.
  • Document Imaging – provides an infrastructure for the scanning, retention, and management of documents relative to the operations of the university. Combined with the university's Records Management, retention schedules can also be applied to the scanned documents.
  • Vandal Card – As the official UI identification card, the Vandal Card can be used to access university meal plans, as a commerce card for personal on-campus transactions at enabled locations, as a UI library card, to access the Student Recreation Center, and for building access to some UI facilities.
  • Records Management – Records Management provides guidance, training, and policy regarding university records, and also maintains the retention schedule for the university. Records Management also provides a physical storage area for university records, and manages the confidential document destruction program.
  • E-Commerce (Marketplace) – ITS provides managed ecommerce services to the university community. Among other services, the site https://marketplace.uidaho.edu serves as an electronic commerce site available for use by university groups for web-based commerce.
