Goal oriented management and planning for forest nurseries: Interactive computer applications for effective use of forest resources.

Four weeks have passed since sowing these ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa). The root radical has extended the length of the plug and lateral branching has begun. At this stage, low rates of N fertilizer can be applied, e.g., 50 ppm N, 7-40-17 water soluble fertilizer. Prior to fertilization, seedlings received only acidified water to maintain a moist, acidic medium. Primary needles are beginning to appear.
