Goal oriented management and planning for forest nurseries: Interactive computer applications for effective use of forest resources.

Ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) germinants three weeks after sowing. Germination is nearly complete at this time and thinning operations to remove all but one germinant per cell can begin. Seedlings are highly susceptable to damping-off fungus but proper cultural practices negate the need for fungicidal applications. Nursery practices include sanitation, maintaining a low pH, avoiding N fertilization, and keeping irrigation applications to a minimum.
