Writing Assignment #3: Persuasive Letter
Assignment: Write a one page (1½ page maximum) persuasive letter based on one of the scenarios described below.
Format: Use Block Format only with or without a personal letterhead. Make sure to include mailing and return addresses.

Possible Problem Scenarios:
1) Write a letter to the Argonaut or some local paper in response to a story or editorial it has recently run or addressing something specific you personally perceive to be a problem.
2) Write a letter to the manufacturer of a product you own asking them to honor the warranty and replace the item.
3) Write a letter to your landlord (or RA or Greek representative etc.) asking him or her to repair/pay for repairs etc. to your domicile.
4) Write a letter to City Of Moscow asking them to do something about something that affects you.
5) Write a letter to one of your political representatives requesting that he or she take specific action or vote a certain way on a political policy or problem you are concerned about. In this case, the politician must either presently not be currently involved with the policy or problem or he or she must be currently opposed to the action you are requesting. In other words, you may not request that a politician take action on something he or she is already supportive of (P.S. your instructor need not necessarily agree with your political perspective).
6) Write a letter to your neighbors, persuading them to get their dog to stop barking. But do so without destroying your close friendship with them.
7) Write a letter to one of your professors or your department requesting some change or "favor".
8) Come up with your own, preferably realistic scenario, preferably one that is relatively original and isn't just a vaguely plagiarized copy of something your roommate wrote for 313 last year.
$$ Extra credit to anyone who sends the letter to the actual audience and receives an authentic written response to it. And if either the Argonaut or Daily News publishes the letter (and it’s well written), I’ll give you extra super-duper Ultra Extra Credit.
