Kenichi Shimizu, Ph.D. 2008 - March 2014 – Hope you all are doing fine.  Currently I am at Umeå University situated in the Northern Sweden roughly 250 miles south of the Arctic Circle.  Here we definitely have more reindeer than people, and moose is called elk.  I work at the Department of Chemistry, and my position is called principal researcher, which I think is equivalent to a permanent post-doc in the U.S. Here I have mainly worked on characterization of hematite/water interface but also taken part in biosensor, enzymatic biofuel cell, and paper-based supercapacitor.  For 2014, I will work on development of bioanode for glucose enzymatic fuel cell.  Then, I will be relocating to the University of Oxford (yet another post doc!) to work on nanoparticle electrochemistry, which aim is to study electrochemistry of a single particle by treating it like a redox active element.”

Simon McAllister, M.S. 2008 - March 2014 – I'm still working as a pd chemist for Arclin, primarily cooking, testing, and formulating composites (particleboard and mdf) resins and decorative overlay(the fake wood for furniture and floors) resins.  I enjoy work and am having a good time in eugene with Esther the wife, Nina the cat, and Hannah the black lab. I may be as much as a cat person as you now ;-)”
