Chimney Rock, ID

From Moscow, drive north to Coeur d'Alene.  You can approach Chimney Rock from the west or east. From the west, go north on 95 and cut over to Priest River.  Go north to Priest Lake, go to the east side of the lake and take the logging roads up to the old lookout below Mt. Roothan (get a map, the logging roads are not easy to navigate without a map). From the old lookout site, hike a few miles to the saddle on the west side of Mt. Roothan. Head north over the edge and down, down into a large cirque-like bowl and work your way up to the base of west face of Chimney Rock.  From the east, go north on 95 to Sandpoint and continue north a few more miles. Turn up Upper Pack River Road and go 12-18 miles to trailhead.  Hike in several (about 5-6) miles to Chimney Rock.

The Chimney Rock area has around 60 routes for traditional climbing.
