Law School - The Law School Admissions Council has a very helpful site at http://www.lsac.org/   It explains in detail the admissions process, the LSAT test which law schools require, the LSDAS which is the portfolio nearly all law schools require, and how to evaluate various law schools as options for you. A philosophy major or minor is excellent preparation for law school.  The Core Skills and Values LSAC recommends as preparation for law school including "Analytic/Problem-solving Skills", "Critical Reading Abilities,"   "Writing Skills," "Oral Communication and Listening Abilities," "General Research Skills," "Organization and Management Skills," "Values of Serving Others and Promoting Justice,"  and "General Knowledge."  See http://www.lsac.org/AboutLawSchool/Preparing-for-Law-School.asp   Philosophy majors also score very highly on the LSAT in comparison to majors from other disciplines.  See http://www.uiweb.uidaho.edu/philosophy/whyphilosophy.html
